What is Baryte?
Barytes (or barite) is the naturally occurring mineral form of barium sulphate. Its main properties are its high specific gravity (4.5), very low solubility; it is non-toxic, and also chemically and physically unreactive.

Benefits of Barytes
Barytes is an environmentally friendly material as it is a natural product.Substitution potential exists but the alternates in the oil industry are economically less attractive.

Uses of Barytes
Some 70% worldwide is used as a weighting agent for drilling fluids in oil and gas exploration. Other uses are in added-value applications which include the car, electronics, TV screen, rubber, and glass ceramics and paint industry, radiation shielding and medical applications (barium meals).

‎2024 General Assembly in Houston (USA) is coming up‎

The Barytes Association (TBA) is excited to announce that the 32nd General Assembly will take place at the Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston Gallery in Houston, Texas on 5th June 2024.

For the first time, the General Assembly will be organized together with the Barite & Oilfield Minerals Forum, which has broadened its scope to baryte markets outside the oilfield market, such as the chemicals and filler markets. TBA members profit from a 15% discount on the forum registration fees. Do not hesitate and register today for THE forum for the barytes industry.
