About The Barytes Association

The Barytes Association was formed in October 2000 with 8 founder members from Europe, North America, Africa and India.

The Barytes Association maintains close links and contacts with other similar groups and associations on a worldwide basis to ensure we are actively involved with decision makers on general promoting of our industry. We are also an Associate Member of Euromines who keep us informed on legislative, environmental and other matters relating to the mining and minerals industry.

Membership continues to grow and has now doubled - representing some 27% of the world production of barytes and some 42% of marketed sales.

Members of The Barytes Association either have their own barytes mines or are significant processors of barytes.

The Barytes Association has two meetings each year – one hosted by a member company which includes visits to their barytes mines and processing facilities; and one in Europe.
